A key recommendation of the Transportation Master Plan (TMP), as approved by Council in 2019, was the implementation and enforcement of timed parking in downtown Fergus and Elora. The intent of timed parking is to increase the turnover and availability of prime parking spaces in the downtown areas for the benefit of businesses and shoppers.
With the addition of the time limited parking, there will be
129, 3-hour parking spaces in downtown Fergus
two 15-minute drop off and pick up spaces in downtown Fergus
107, 3-hour parking spaces in downtown Elora
two 15-minute drop off and pick up spaces in downtown Elora
Timed downtown parking will be implemented in the spring with education and outreach on the new parking rules. The Township will hire an outside professional company to enforce parking on the Township's behalf. The company will be awarded through a request for proposal process.
The program has been endorsed by the Elora and Fergus Business Improvement Areas (BIA's) and the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce.
