We are excited to offer some more FREE online programming to our Victoria Park Seniors Centre community through Zoom.

We are offering virtual and call-in programming. To access these programs, either click the appropriate link to connect on Zoom with video or call the listed phone number for audio only.

  • You can participate using a telephone for audio only. Also, if you do not have a camera on your computer device, you can still participate if your computer has sound.
  • If using a computer device, visit zoom.us and follow instructions to download zoom. Click “join with video” and “join with computer audio”. If zoom asks to access camera/microphone, say YES. Can also use smart phone if download zoom app. Not sure how to use Zoom? On the zoom site, tutorials available to help or watch this helpful video.
  • To obtain zoom links or telephone numbers please go to: www.centrewellington.ca/seniorscentre or contact by email: seniors@centrewellington.ca or call 519-846-9691 ext. 204.
  • A few minutes before the activity begins, click the zoom link to join by computer device.
  • Or, by telephone, dial phone number. You will be asked to enter Meeting ID, and then press the pound key (#). It will then ask you to enter your participant ID or press pound, please press the pound key (#). It will then say you have been added to the meeting.
  • For both computer device and telephone, you will wait in the “Waiting Room” until the program starts. Programs are FREE. However, telephone numbers are long distance so depending on your phone plan, charges could apply. There is no charge to join via your computer, regardless of whether or not you use the video option.



ONLINE FITNESS CLASSES:

NOTE: For all virtual fitness classes where we cannot assist you in person, please listen to your body and use your discretion to choose which exercises you do and how intensely you do them. We want everyone to be safe. These virtual exercises are intended to encourage you to gently move your body, so don’t push yourself beyond what feels okay. Participating in these exercise activities is done entirely at your own risk.


Building Strength Fitness: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 8:40 to 9:10 a.m.
Each 30 minute class includes a warm-up and a cool-down/stretch period. Intermediate level classes, however, options for different fitness levels will be demonstrated. Instructor: Glenda Rose.

  • Monday: Lower Body Exercises to help strengthen the leg muscles, as well as the gluteals and lower back muscles. A mat is needed as some exercises will be done on the floor. Hand weights may occasionally be used, too. (No class Mondays: August 2 or 30).
  • Wednesday: Core The target zone for this class is the core, working on the abdominal and back muscles. A mat is required for this class as most exercises will be done on the floor.
  • Friday: Upper Body Arms, chest and shoulder muscles will be put to work in this class. Hand weights will be used. If you don’t have weights, water bottles or soup cans work, too.

Low Impact Cardio & Weights: Mondays & Wednesdays 9:15 to 9:45 a.m.
This class can be done either standing or sitting. We begin with some cardio to warm up the joints and muscles and also to elevate your heart rate as is recommended by the Centre for Activity and Aging along with or followed by using weights to build strength (if you don't have weights, don't worry because cans, water bottles or even no weights can work). Chair Hatha Yoga: Mondays 9:50 to 10:20 a.m.
This class is suited to those new to Yoga and to those who have practiced for a long time. It includes standing postures using your chair for support as needed and for specific sequences followed by sitting postures on the chair and ending with breath awareness and relaxation. *Yoga mat or running shoes for stability. VPSC Outdoor Lending Library & Curbside Pick up
We will be offering the self-serve outdoor library cart (and donation bin) located out front of the Centre if you would like to borrow or return a book or jig-saw puzzle from VPSC’s lending library (or if you have books/puzzles you would like to share). Alternatively, let us know if you have a request for a specific author and we can let you know what we have available, then arrange a curbside pick up. Please contact khall@centrewellington.ca.

Blanket Project
Do you knit or crochet? Interested in contributing while staying safe at home in this time of physical distancing? Why not help us create blankets! Knit or crochet squares, 6 inches by 6 inches, with extra yarn you may have at home. Squares can be any colour. After physical distancing rules are lifted we will get together to put them together. We hope to donate blankets once completed. Contact kmorgan@centrewellington.ca for the pattern.
