The Township of Centre Wellington owns property east of the existing limit of Dickson Drive in Fergus. In order to facilitate development of these lands, the Township proposed to extend Dickson Drive, the existing municipal services and establish a Storm Water Management strategy. This provides access to municipally serviced (water and sanitary) industrial, commercial, and/or institutional employment lands, and a multi-use path within the Centre Wellington Business Park in Fergus, to allow for continued economic growth and promote a live/work opportunity within the Township.

The Study

The Township of Centre Wellington has completed a study to identify and establish the best option to facilitate development of the property east of the existing limit of Dickson Drive, Fergus. The proposed area to construct an extension of the existing Dickson Drive is illustrated on the key plan below. The study was conducted in accordance with Schedule B of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) process (October 2000, as amended).

Through consultation with Agencies, Members of the Public, and Indigenous Communities, the preferred alternative for the Dickson Drive Extension is Option No. 1 Multi-Use Pathway and Below Grade Stormwater Management (SWM).

Letters of Intent

The land has been zoned and serviced, and the Township is now inviting interested parties to submit Letters of Intent. The Letter of Intent is the next step as businesses work towards acquiring a lot in the municipal business park. The minimum purchase price has been confirmed by Council as $450,000 per acre. Offers below this value will not be considered.
