The Project

The Township of Centre Wellington plans to reconstruct Moir Street from Geddes Street to Princess Street in the former Town of Elora, now in the Township of Centre Wellington. This street is to be upgraded from a curbless cross‐section with semi‐adequate surface drainage to a typical urban cross‐section complete with the addition of a new Storm Sewer, Sanitary Sewer, and Watermain. The reconstruction of Moir Street is required to support a proposed development at 27 Moir Street as there is currently no sanitary or watermain on the street to service the development.

The Township proposes to build a new storm sewer system on Moir Street to collect surface drainage and connect to the existing storm sewer system at Geddes Street. Overall, 72m of 600mm diameter of Trunk Storm Sewer will be constructed. The Township also plans to reconstruct the trunk storm where it crosses Princess Street with 18m of 450mm diameter sewer. Further to drainage improvements, the Township plans to introduce a new watermain on Moir Street from Geddes Street to Princess Street including all appurtenances. Overall, 91m of 150mm diameter PVC DR18 watermain will be constructed. Additional to the drainage improvements and installation of a new watermain, the Township also plans to introduce an extension of the sanitary collection system on Moir Street to service the new development. Overall, 58m of 200mm diameter Trunk Sanitary Sewer will be constructed on Moir Street.

The Township has awarded the contract to James Thoume Construction Limited with construction beginning August 2023 and an anticipated completion date of December 2023.
